Club Opening Scramble – Saturday, May 24

Our Members Opening Scramble is this Saturday, May 24th with an 11:00 AM shotgun start.

• Cost: $40
• Includes: Muni gift, lasagna dinner with Caesar salad, garlic toast, and dessert
• Deadline to register: Wednesday, May 21st
• Format: 4-person scramble, open to the first 18 teams (72 players)

Match Play Registration – Extended to May 30

We’ve extended the registration deadline for the 2025 Match Play Championship to Friday, May 30th to give more players the chance to join.

• Bracket-style format

Men’s Night Wing Night – Wednesday, May 28

Our first Wing Night of the season is set for Wednesday, May 28th during Men’s Night, with food provided by Work Restaurant.

We are currently taking pre-orders at the desk until Sunday, May 26th so the restaurant can prepare accordingly. If you plan to eat wings that night, please be sure to sign up in advance.

Greens Aeration – Completed May 15

We successfully completed greens aeration on Thursday, May 15th, and we’re happy to report it went extremely well. The greens will heal quickly and will be back to peak condition in no time.

Why do we aerate?
Greens aeration is a vital cultural practice that helps reduce soil compaction, improve air and water movement, and maintain healthy root systems. It’s one of the main reasons our greens are known as the best in the area. According to the USGA, regular aeration is key to providing smooth, firm, and resilient putting surfaces throughout the season.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as the greens finish healing.

Senior Men’s Games Begin Thursday, May 22

The Senior Men’s Games kick off next Thursday, May 22nd. We have 44 full-time players already signed up. Additional players are welcome to join as spares, to fill in when regular players are unavailable.

Match Play Championship – Deadline Extended

We’re extending the registration and first-round deadline for this year’s Match Play Championship to May 30th to allow time for more players to join.

• Format: Bracket-style competition
• 75% of official Golf Canada or Muni Men’s Night handicap used
• Sign up in the pro shop

Wing Night on May 28

Mark your calendars! Wing Night will be coming to our patio on Wednesday, May 28th, hosted by Work Restaurant.

Cost will be $20 for 10 wings and a garden salad.

To help the restaurant prepare, we are taking pre-orders now through Monday, May 26th. If you plan to enjoy wings that night, please stop by the desk to place order and pay. Cash only please so the restaurant can be paid with ease.

There will be two service windows from 5pm-7pm and 7pm-9pm.

Next Cobra Fitting Day – Friday, June 13

If you missed out on our earlier fitting sessions, don’t worry — Cobra will be back at The Muni on Thursday, June 13th from 10 AM – 4 PM for another Cobra Fitting Day.

We’re excited to share that course construction is now complete! Thank you to all members and guests for your patience as we worked to improve your playing experience.

While construction is finished, we ask everyone to please respect the roped-off tee blocks. These newly sodded areas still need time to grow, mend, and fully establish. We’ll open them for play once they’re ready — likely by early to mid-June.

This season, we’re bringing back the Match Play Championship in a bracket format, using 75% of your Golf Canada or Muni Men’s Night handicap.

As we wrap up this important work, we ask all players to please stay off the newly sodded tee blocks. These areas need time to settle, mend, and grow before we can begin play on them. We anticipate the new tees will be ready for use by early to mid-June.

We also kindly ask golfers to avoid hitting from the drainage lines where visible. Please take a moment to move your ball to the side prior to hitting to help preserve the work that has been done.

Time is running out to sign up for the 2025 Men’s League!

Players will be drafted onto 10 teams in a fun, competitive format.

Ladies League Begins May 6th

Our Tuesday Ladies League officially kicks off on Tuesday, May 6th. We’re looking forward to another great season of fun and social golf. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the registration night — we’re excited to see you on the tee!

Senior Men’s Games – Start May 22

The Senior Men’s Games return on Thursday, May 22, and will run weekly on Thursday mornings.

Format: 3-week rotation (4-man scramble, Vegas scramble, and other games)

Men’s League – Final Reminder to Register

The 2025 Men’s League kicks off Wednesday, May 7th, and the registration deadline is Thursday, May 1st.

The cost is $75 for the season and includes a team format with a season-ending meal. Players will be drafted onto 10 teams again this year.

Course Construction Update

Construction is progressing well on the course. All drainage lines are now installed and prepped for sod, and next week we’ll see the team begin shaping the new tee blocks. We expect sod installation and final construction to be completed within the next 2 weeks, improving the course experience for all players.

The wait is over — Stratford Municipal Golf Course officially opens for the 2025 season today, Wednesday, April 23rd at 12:00 PM! We’re excited to welcome everyone back and can’t wait to kick off another great season with our members and guests.

Please note that construction is still ongoing around the course. We ask all players to be mindful of workers and equipment, and to follow any posted signs or directions to ensure everyone’s safety. Also avoiding the drainage trench’s where possible.

Driving Range Opens Tomorrow

We’re also pleased to share that the driving range will open at 12:00 PM. Our new robotic ball picker has not yet arrived and been installed, so the range will temporarily close one morning next week to allow for installation. We’ll provide an exact date as soon as we have confirmation.

We’re excited to announce that, weather permitting, Stratford Municipal Golf Course will open for the 2025 season on Wednesday, April 23rd at 12:00 PM!

The forecast for this week isn’t looking ideal, and poor conditions may impact the pace of our course preparations and ongoing drainage construction. However, we’re optimistic and continuing to work toward a smooth start to the season.

The tee sheet is now live for members to book their opening rounds. Public/guest bookings will begin on Friday, so don’t wait to secure your spot!

Course Improvements Underway

We’re happy to share that both our drainage and tee block construction projects have officially begun. Our goal is to complete the drainage installation before opening day, though sod placement will follow once conditions allow.

Meanwhile, tee block construction will continue into late April and early May, with minimal disruption to play. These improvements are a key part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the golf experience for all members and guests.

Driving Range Update

We’re also aiming to have our driving range open next week, with the exact date still to be determined. One exciting new addition this season is the installation of a robotic range picker, which will help us maintain ball availability and improve overall service.

The installation and programming are scheduled for early next week, and we’ll provide an update as soon as we’re ready to open the range for the season.

As we move further into spring, we are still waiting for better weather to determine an opening date. While we are eager to get the season started, we want to ensure the course is in good condition before welcoming everyone back. Stay tuned for updates as we finalize our opening plans.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improving the course, drainage work and new tee block construction will take place before or shortly after opening. The wet and cold spring has delayed the start of this project, but as soon as conditions allow, work will begin. We appreciate your patience as these improvements will enhance the playing experience for all golfers.

Format: 10 teams compete against each other weekly for low team score. We ask that rounds be played on Wednesdays or Thursdays but you will have 5 play out opportunities if you can not make a week do to vacations etc.
