Hello Everyone

Just a quick announcement that the lawn bowling and range tee construction is now complete, please remain off the area though as we continue to get the sod and seed to catch. It shouldn’t be long now though until we are hitting from our new tee deck!!! The range will remain closed this coming week on Monday and Tuesday as we extend the range netting at the back of the range. We apologize for the inconvenience but we need the added netting because of all you long ball hitters and with the range tee now being moved forward.

Our Auction  Scramble this Saturday has been canceled due to lack of interest, but we are still going to hold a 2 man scramble for the players who signed up starting at 11am!! So still come on out and enjoy some Saturday afternoon golf.

Lastly don’t forget about our Friday night social on June 29th, golf is available from 4pm to 6pm and dinner will be a chicken dinner catered by Black Angus. Cost is $20 per person and sign up deadline is Wednesday June 27th.

Construction is still well underway around The Muni but projects are starting to round into shape nicely. Our new concrete entrance way is now complete, looking good and usable, and the Lawn Bowling / Practice Range tee should see completion within a week. Thank you everyone for putting up with these inconveniences while we continue to improve our course.

We do have a couple upcoming events and I just wanted to send a quick reminder out about them. This Saturday is our Auction Scramble and at the moment we still need lots of players to sign up for this to run. Sign up deadline is this Wednesday night and I will be making the decision Thursday morning on whether the event will be a go or not.

We will also be hosting a social night of golf and dinner on Friday June 29th, anyone is welcome to sign up for this fun relaxed night at The Muni. Sign up sheet on information board in Clubhouse.

Lastly it is getting close to our annual Men’s invitational on Saturday July 7th. Fliers are posted around the clubhouse for this great day with a steak dinner and full prize table. * Sign up sheet at counter* Also make sure to check out the great deal offered my Mitchell golf club for Muni members who wish to play in their invite on Friday July 6th!!!

Hello Everyone

I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend and has been able to keep up to their lawns and the grass that doesn’t want to stop growing. We have been working non stop to try and catch up to our rough and this week I think we have finally been able to catch up… With the long weekend now over and the season well on it’s way there are just a few things starting at the course that I thought I would send out reminders for.

Our Huron-Perth Jr. League Golf Team Tryouts will begin Monday June 11th from 4:30pm till 6:30pm, and is open for any Jr. members boy or girl, age 11 to 16 who wish to try out and make our team that travels to 5 other courses for 9 hole events. It is a great introduction to Tournament golf, and team members receive matching uniforms and weekly coaching.

Our Driving range will also soon be going under some more construction as the lawn bowling green will start to be built at the beginning of next week. I apologize for any inconvenience this brings, but in the end we will have a much better practice facility with a new tee elevated tee deck with grass and matted hitting areas. For the time being well the cleared out back section grows in we will be moving to irons only, I hope this doesn’t last long though and that we are back to hitting the big sticks as fast as possible.

Lastly our Sr. Games have now began and will take place every Thursday morning at 9am, A schedule can be found at the Pro shop counter with the weekly games and a sign up sheet on the information board.

This week saw the true start to the golf season, with the weather finally cooperating we were able to get things cut, get carts out on the course and also open up the Driving range. It also was the start of our Men’s and Ladies Leagues and the support was unreal, both nights the parking lot was packed with Tuesday having over 50 ladies play and our Wednesday Men’s league having 120 players join this season. Our Members Opening Scramble is this Saturday at 11am with a Lasagna and Caesar salad meal to follow. Thank you to everyone who has signed up and paid by the Wednesday deadline. We have a good number of members signed up to enjoy the day, and we are hoping for nothing but warm sunny skies. If Saturday for some reason happens to be bad weather and we can’t play, (which is highly unlikely) we will still be holding the meal at 3:30pm and encourage you to still come out socialize and enjoy the clubhouse.

Hello Everyone

Hopefully this Monday starts the stretch of some nice weather!!. The staff is out today trying to get everything cleaned up after the massive storm on Friday and luckily the course sustained very little damage. We have not been very lucky in the rain department though and it has forced us to keep carts off the course for most of the year and the range closed, I apologize to anyone this has affected or kept off the course. Today we are finally letting the carts back out but we have mark off wet areas and tried to direct carts the best we can, please respect these signs as carts can do a lot of damage to the soft turf. We also finally were able to also pull out the range net and try to cut the extremely long grass but it still remains very wet, I am praying and hoping that this dries a lot today and we can have people out hitting balls Tuesday!!

Last night we saw our Men’s League Captains pick the teams for our Wednesday night league. Thank you to all the Captains for coming out!! I will be putting the teams up today via the golfscoring.net website with the league schedule, I will also post a team list in the clubhouse on the info board. You can find this info by going to our website and clicking the link under the men’s league header or by going to www.golfscoring.net/stratfordmuni.

Lastly our Members Opening Scramble is coming up this Saturday, sign up deadline is Wednesday and the sheet can be found at the pro shop counter. It is a fun day of golf starting at 11am followed by a Lasagna, Caesar Salad meal. Cost $15

Just a quick remark about Men’s night, our league is about to start next Wednesday May 9th. I have had 125 guys say or have one of their group members say that they will be playing in the league this season but have only had 95 actually come in and pay. If you are one of the remaining 30 could you please make an effort to contact me so I know your a firm yes and we can get our list together for our Sunday night draft. Also we are still looking for about 4 captains to help pick the teams. Captains responsibilities are very minimal as all it requires is to have a fun night this Sunday at 6:30pm selecting players to a team, and giving your team a name. Lastly if you are new to the league I do require some sort of estimate on what your handicap would be so we can get you into the right flight faster. I have caught a few of you but if I haven’t a quick email with an average score would be great.

Also don’t forget our Members Opening is also coming up very quickly, registration deadline is Wednesday May 9th for the Saturday May 12th event. The sign up sheet can be found at the pro shop counter and I hope to see lots of our members out for a fun day of golf.

What a first weekend open! Even with the cold temperatures and no carts people had the itch to be out and we saw a steady amount of golfers. It was still a little wet and cold for myself but I totally understand having to scratch that itch. The course has been drying up nicely and we will officially let carts out as of today. (Please remember to follow all cart signs and keep carts 30 feet from tees and greens)

I still can’t give a firm date on the range opening, I know there are a lot of people wishing to get out and work on their swings but it still remains wet and we still need a little bit of work done at back on range before we can get net up and open. I apologize for any inconvenience but in the end we will have a way better range.

This is the last reminder for all the guys looking to play in the Men’s league we have a bunch of players signed up already but I have seen a lot of names who play every year that have yet to make their way in to register. We know its a late start to season and some of you chose to register first time at course but please try to make an effort to get in before Wednesday’s deadline so we can be ready for starting May 9th.

We are Open!!! After what has been the longest winter ever, yesterday we were able to get the pins in and have golfers playing. The course still remains very wet though and today’s high of 4 is not helping the course dry up, so carts will remain off the course till at least Monday. Thank you to anyone who came out this week and helped rake a few piles, it has gone a long way in helping us get the course cleaned up as even the staff have been battling with the wet conditions.

A quick reminder that Men’s day registration is due by this Wednesday May 2nd, so that I can have time to put players list together and have our team draft. We are still also looking for team captains so anyone interested please contact me.

The weather has finally broke and the sun and warmer temperatures have started to arrive. Golf season is knocking!! With that our grounds crew has been out frantically trying to clean up the course and getting it ready for the season, but the course does remain very wet and has kept us from getting any machinery out.

The clubhouse is open this week from 9am till 3pm for anyone who wishes to drop in for coffee or to pay for memberships etc.. and I am going to open for walkers this FRIDAY!!!  Yes you are reading that correct this Friday at 9am will start the 2018 golfing season at the Muni. I still can’t give a date for carts and the range as they will fully depend on the course drying up.

Our annual Men’s day meeting on Wednesday night was successful and we have already seen lots of players signed up for the league. For anyone who missed the meeting and would like the information please feel free to contact me. The deadline for league registration is Wednesday May 2nd so that we can have time to draft teams before league play starts May 9th.
